Brief Bio: Namrata SHARMA, PhD

Dr. Namrata Sharma is faculty at the State University of New York, USA, an international education consultant, and an award-winning author.

She is an expert with the United Nations Harmony with Nature Knowledge Network (UN HwN) and has served on the boards of several professional organizations across Europe, India, and the United States. She also currently serves on the Education Advisory Council (EAC) of the International Baccalaureate (IB).

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, India; a master’s degree in Education from Soka University, Japan; and a Ph.D. from the UCL Institute of Education, United Kingdom. Prior to joining SUNY, she worked as faculty at the University of Nottingham, UK.

Her research focuses on International and Comparative Education, Global Citizenship Education, and Sustainability Education, with particular emphasis on the intersections between UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCE) initiatives.

Dr. Sharma has published numerous research papers, articles, and books. Her book, Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship (Bloomsbury 2025) received both the Gold Award in the Social Sciences & Education category and the Grand Winner Award at the 2026 Nautilus Book Awards.
